Synopsis
Šaban is the story of Serbia’s legendary Roma music man, Šaban Bajramoviæ. With intimate incite into the life, loves and art of this life-long singer, musician, composer and family man; but also passionate gambler and renowned womanizer who has fathered children born of love and adventure. Šaban is often short-fused and stubborn, but is also an honest free spirit. Proud of his ‘Gypsy’ origins, and although he is an undisciplined sufferer of diabetes who expects the end, he still manages to be a trickster and a fanciful dreamer at 70-years-old. The film’s central scenes take place in the Bosnian city of Mostar during the recording of Šaban’s most recent album (recorded with the Mostar sevdah Reunion and Macedonian trumpet master Neat Veliov).
