Synopsis
Trnje, a Zagreb quarter, where old cottages are torn down one by one and replaced by concrete giants. The owner of one of these cottages has a lodger obsessed by crime statistics who took up a hobby: precise calculation of probabilities of new crimes. And his forecasts all come true. But soon he realizes that the rhythm of crime has been disrupted and foresees his own death. Seen by many as a groundbreaking film of Croatian cinematography of the eighties, ‘Rhythm of Crime’ has become a cult movie.

Directors Biography
Zoran Tadiæ was born in Livno in 1941. He studied Comparative Literature and Philosophy at Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy. In film industry since 1961, Tadiæ first started as critic and editor, then worked as assistant director and screenwriter. In 1968 he began directing his own films, among which 10 short features and numerous television documentaries and feature films (around sixty titles in all). His specializing in socially involved documentaries and filming a genuine cycle about scarce existence in the Dalmatian rocky lands places him among most prominent Croatian documentary authors. He made commercials as well. ‘Rhythm of Crime’ (1981) is his directorial debut feature, followed by thrillers ‘The Third Key’ (Treæi kljuè, 1983), ‘Dreaming of a Rose’ (San o ruži, 1986), ‘Condemned’ (1987), ‘The Man Who Liked Funerals’ (1989). Tadiæ’s work was awarded nationally and internationally. He worked as guest lecturer at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. Tadiæ died in Zagreb in 2007.
