We are proud to inform you that in this year's programme, Zagreb Film Festival will showcase a new movie by Andrei Zvyagintsev, the director behind cult movie ‘The Return' which won the first prize in 1. ZFF. After a few years break, famous Russian is back on the big screen with a heavy drama ‘The Banishment'/ ‘Izgnanie', about misunderstanding, betrayal, love and death, loosely based on the novel ‘Laughin' Matter' by William Saroyan.
'The Banishment' deals with a married couple - Alex (Konstantin Lavronenko) and Vera (Maria Bonnevie) who decide to move to the countryside with their kids. Away from the city, which provided them with the illusion of happiness, the relationship between the two of them starts to deteriorate.
