Finding love was never so awkward, as it is in a hilarious indie ‘Eagle vs. Shark' by Kiwi director Taika Waititi that will be screened in this year's programme of ZFF. Cohen's movie is a twisted story about two geeks falling in love: Shy, but smart and optimistic girl Lily (Loren Horsley), who works as a cashier at a fast-food joint and Jarrod (Jemaine Clement), self-aggrandizing, clueless geek from the computer store across the way. After one night Lily crashes Jarrod's animal/video-game extravaganza, impressing him enough with her shark suit and gaming skills, two of them take an interesting road trip to Jarrod's hometown.
Young director Waititi, who was nominated for the Oscar prize in 2005. with his short film 'Two Cars One Night' directed this 1.35 mil $ worth feature debut in 25 days using a homegrown crew of 35 close-knit people. Movie was screened on several acclaimed festivals, and was nominated for Grand Jury Prize on Sundance 2007. For more info, check trailer or official site, and the word of critic is available here.
