Apart from Michael Moore's 'Sicko' and other carefully picked titles, in this year's programme Matinee, ZFF will showcase the latest Cannes laureate ‘4 months, 3 weeks & 2 days' by Romanian director Cristian Mungiu. After winning Golden Palm for best feature film and Fipresci prize, Mungiu's masterpiece has been awarded with prestigious International Federation of Film Critics award - The Fipresci Grand Prix for Best Film of the Year at San Sebastian Film Festival.
Director Mungiu also penned the script for ‘4 months, 3 weeks & 2 days', a shattering story about a young Romanian student Otilia (Anamaria Marinca) who assists her roommate Gabita (Laura Vasiliu) to arrange an illegal abortion in 1980's Romania. The movie belongs to a larger project called: Tales from the Golden Age - a subjective history of communism in Romania told through its urban legends. Apart from excellent story and direction, this film's success is also based on a great cinematography by Oleg Mutu (The Death of Mr. Lazarescu), and work of other crew members that you can check on official site, as well as the trailer and some photos.
