Exhibition: Still Frames |
Six acclaimed Italian film photographers gathered around the project 'La Bottega delle Immagini del Cinema', Gianni Caramanico, Emilio Lari, Egidio Poggi, Franco Vitale, Mimmo Cattarinich, Romolo Eucalitto, decided to unite their love towards film art and to exhibit their work. From 12th October (8.00 pm) to the end of the Zagreb Film Festival, 27th October, Cinema Europe in Zagreb will host a remarkable internationally acclaimed photo exhibition organised by 5th Zagreb Film Festival and Sony Alpha.
The authors will display 72 yet unpublished photos of renown directors and actors taken on film sets that marked the film history: Martin Scorsese instructing Robert De Niro on the set of ‘The Raging Bull', Bernardo Bertolucci surrounded by dunes in Nigerian desert, Peter Sellers dressed as toreador with a guitar in his hand, and also Roberto Benigni, Pedro Almodovar, Anthony Quinn, Katherine Hepburn and many others. This exhibition will expose them all as confused, honest, spontaneous, sometimes ironic, but always new and yet unknown personalities.
Film photographers are often invisible and unknown to film audience, but their work is crucial for film's success. Their importance lies in their ability to transmit emotion and an atmosphere in just one still frame that audience will remember forever. ‘In order to get a vivid image, one must never superpose a technical solution to the spontaneity and intuition. The key to a good photography is blending emotions between the observer and the observed into one unique moment', the authors of the show said.
