LaBanda Friday, October 26th, 23:59 / SC Cinema Foyer In late 1980s, LaBanda was one of the principal representatives of the alternative rock scene in Sarajevo. LaBanda was part of a Sarajevo new-wave & alternative scene, playing, at that time, very atypical music based on acoustic piano and inspired by film music, musicals, jazz and blues. In that time, LaBanda was: Vladimir Kajević on guitar, Zvonimir Matić on bass, Sergej Kreso on drums, and Miško Stanišić on piano. Svjetlana Bukvić and Una Sekerez were singing backing vocals. The producer was Mustafa Čengić. At the time, they recorded a number of singles which were to be compiled for their first album.
The war in Bosnia interrupted their work, LaBanda ceased to exist, and never finished the recording of their album. In the chaos of the Balkan wars at the beginning of 1990's they all lost contact. They are living in five different countries and they never saw each other for 15 years.
Miško wrote the song ‘Graffiti Street' just before the war started. 15 years later he understands that the song was prophetical, talking about the war and the refuge years that was about to come, and even more, talking about leaving home and friends, asking a question: ‘Do you still remember my name, or have you forgotten who I am?'
Suddenly, after many years, old friends from LaBanda tracks each other through the Internet. Zvonimir asked: ‘why wouldn't we try to finish our album? That is where the story of Graffiti Street begins..' Watch the film, listen to LaBanda live at 5th Zagreb Film Festival!
